Taiven is a skilled combat mage with a large mana reserve, one of Zorian's former crushes, the class assistant to Nirthak.
Attributes and personality[]
She is athletic and attractive from her hard training to become a skilled combat mage, and has an aggressive and rude personality.
She wants to seek some sort of prestige, but as a new dungeon delver that's quite tricky, and her parents would prefer her to be safe.
Magic[]
She is able to saturate an area with her mana, allowing to sense objects and mana constructs. She can cast the incredibly destructive fire vortex spell. She knows a host of other combat and environmental spells of great utility, e.g. spider climb, feather fall, other survival spells, and teaches them to Zorian.
History[]
As a friend of Zorian's, she begged him to help her retrieve a watch from the Dungeon from "giant spiders" in many restarts[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10], as well as outside the time loop[11]. Zorian eventually did so, meeting the aranea, and she in return trained Zorian in combat spells and utility spells in that restart,[3] as well as some later ones.
Later, after the upsurge in monster attacks due to aranea removal by Red Robe, she instead offers Zorian to join her and her friends Urik and Oran in monster hunts in the Dungeon[12]. Two restarts later, awed by Zorian's skills (though Zorian passed off his knowledge of monster lairs and migration routes from the previous restart as results of divination[13]), and unhappy to be "outdone" in her specialty (which Zorian denies), she breaks down and demands explanations[14]. Zorian tells her about the time loop, and she starts to take him seriously in spars[15].
She was eventually made a temporary looper[16], but killed by a beast formed out of a piece of Panaxeth's body, when Zorian and co. were creating an exit from the time loop.[17]
